Monday-1/24-Today we are taking notes on Earthquakes and completing the Vocabulary. Thurs.1/20-Today we made models of the 4 different types of Plate Boundaries and then we got to eat them!! Wed. 1/19-Today we watched Mosa Mack Continental Drift Theory and filled out the Google Form Questions and we completed the Pangea Activity where we pieced together the 7 continents based on fossil evidence to create Pangea. Friday 1/14- Today we went over the Plate Tectonics Powerpoint and Notes. Thurs. 1/13- We pick up with Tectonic Plates and the continental Drift Theory. We watched Bill Nye and completed a sheet with it. Monday 1/10 and Tues. 1/11 We are reviewing for the Benchmark. There is a slide in the Google Classroom Stream of Study Tips and Quizzlets. 2nd Quarter Benchmark is on Jan. 12th! Start Studying!! It will be on Energy. Tues. 1/4-Today we completed a Density Demonstration Lab and discussed how the layers of the Earth are based on their density. Mon. 1/3-Today we are starting our Earth Science Unit. We took a Pre Assessment and worked to complete our Layers of the Earth Vocabulary. Wed. 12/15-Friday 12/17-We have been working on our Wave Projects. They are due on Monday Jan. 3rd upon arrival to school. They count like a Test grade. Students can share them in Flipgrid or on Google Classroom depending on the activity they chose.

We completed a Heat Transfer using a Metal rod into hot and cold liquids and inflated a balloon on a flask by heating the empty flask. I know right now it may seem like 6th grade may never end, but 7th grade is right around the corner. Therefore, we are asking students to register for their 7th grade electives! The process is very easy and can all be done through students WakeID Portals. Please note, this process works best on a computer - phones have been giving problems with the elective registration process.
Instructions:
Students will need to log into their WakeID Portal.
Once in their student WakeID Portal, they will go to Powerschool.
On the left, there will be an option for students that says "Class Registration" - see attached picture.
Then students will follow the directions.
ALL REGISTRATIONS WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETED BY APRIL 13TH.

Tuesday 10/8-10/11 We started on our News Broadcast Projects. Students are working in their lab groups to create a Newscast on a seismic event. This will count as a test grade. Friday-Today we finished our Plant Adaptation Notes and they were graded. Please see Power School! We began creating our Hunger Games Super Plant. This counts as a Test/Project Grade. Students are creating a Super Plant and drawing and labeling their plant and writing a sentence (at least) paragraph on their plant. Thursday April 25th- Today we are working to organize our Tropism Projects and then we are reading and taking notes on Plant Adaptations. Use this document. Wednesday April 24th-Today we read and took notes on Plant Dormancy. We also started our Plant Tropism Projects using our plants that we planted as seeds. Friday Jan. 18th-Students did well on their Quarterly Assessments. They covered a lot of information and are learning how to study. I am trying to get students to understand how to apply their knowledge on the test. Science tests are not always testing rote learning. Students need to apply their learning to charts, and scenarios to prove their knowledge. If students need to Test corrections, they are due on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Test corrections are written in a complete sentence, restating the question and including the answer.

Thursday and Friday Jan. 3-4, We have worked to understand Sound Absorption by having a contest to see which group could muffle the sound of a ringing phone in an originally designed box. Groups had a lot of fun and there were some surprises as to what materials absorbed sound the best.

MY WOLF TIME GROUP Today we were talking about how our Words and Actions Make a Difference and Affect other people. After the students saw a video on 'Paying It Forward' they decided to make zip loc bags of granola bars, pop tarts, trail mix and a water. They want to make these to give out to those less fortunate. We hope to put these together on Friday and then hand out to students that would like to share the Love and make a difference in a strangers life. Some students volunteered to bring items to use with this project. I was so proud of their idea and their enthusiasm. A BIG Thank you to those who are bringing in items to share!!!!

Monday 10/29 Students did a really great job creating their cartoons. They were tough criics in judging the Best All Around winners and Most Creative Cartoons!!
Thursday Oct. 25 Today student's began creating ATOM MAN cartoons. They received a Rubric on how this is going to be graded, like a quiz. It is due on Monday Oct. 29th. Students need AT LEAST 6 strips and need COLOR and creative story. This is the first grade to be taken for 2nd Quarter. Wednesday 10/24 Today we used Nearpod code CGJVU to take Matter notes and we created the structure of a different Element. Notebooks will be taken up tomorrow to grade. Tuesday 10/23 Today we reviewed the Benchmark. Students who made below a 70 have the opportunity to do Test Corrections. They are to take the question they missed and write a complete sentence with the question and answer, making a statement with capitalization and punctuation. For every corrected question it adds 1 point to their score. Test Corrections are due tomorrow, 10/24.

Students can review the test on Plants, Photosynthesis, Respiration, Transpiration to be prepared for the Bench Mark. Dec. 16- To film your video, do you need to dress like you are in your biome? What props do you have at home that would add to your project and sell the Producers to pick your Biome. Bring them to school to use in filming.
Dec. 15 We are working on Biome Projects that need to be ready to film or video on Tuesday, December 19th. These are group projects that will count like a test grade. Please ensure that your student is prepared and does a nice job to earn full credit on this assignment.
Dec. 11 Study for Unit Test on Plants!!! Today we reviewed. Study Guides were handed out over a week ago in preparation. I rescheduled Test until Dec. 12 to ensure that the students were well prepared for the test. You can go back through and look at links on the website to also help study. Our next subject will be a Biom project!
Dec. 5 Today we competed in the Hunger Games with our Super Plant we created as a Project. Tomorrow we will be going to the Library to learn how to use Green Screens. A study Guide was handed out to review for the Friday Test on Plants. Students are to complete the questions and work to be ready for the Test. We will be reviewing on Thursday.

Nov. 15 Today we jammed out to the tunes of the Photosynthesis song. We are working to learn the chemical formula for photosynthesis for a quiz on Friday. We have completed our Photosynthesis notes and we worked to put graded work in our Interactive notebook. Tomorrow we have a Lab on the Molecules involved in Photosynthesis! Nov. 13 Today we reviewed Pollination and Plant Fertilization. We should have turned in our Pollination Comic Strips and Photo Analysis Flower parts sheets. Tomorrow we are going to be studying Photosynthesis. Nov. 8 Today we used computers to study different flowers and label their parts. We learned that all flowers are not made the same!! Today we viewed Bill Nye Plants video and worked on getting our notebooks caught up. Nov. 2 Today we began our Plant and Ecology unit. We looked at the Pre assessment of this unit and thought about like a before and after makeover picture. We have a lot of room to grow and learn. Nov. 1 Today we viewed Spooky Science experiments. Tomorrow we begin Unit 2 Plants and Ecology. Oct. 30 Today was the last day of the quarter! We went over our tests and did test corrections if we scored below a 70. I was amazed at the students who had an opportunity to improve their grades with test corrections, yet did not. We had a notebook check. This should have been an easy quiz from daily keeping up with our work and entering it in the Table of Contents. Please ask your student about these items. There is no homework. On Wednesday we are doing Spooky Science! If you have an abundance of candy from Halloween. You can always send it in to our class to use as rewards!!
Oct. 27 Today we finished our first Unit Test! Students have been working hard to learn a lot of Earth Science information. We are real scientist! IF STUDENTS HAVE ANY MAKE UP WORK, THEY NEED TO TURN IT IN BY MONDAY. THIS IS THE LAST DAY FOR GRADES. On Monday we will be doing test corrections. Our next Unit is Plants and Ecology. There is no homework. Oct. 25 Today we discussed Soil and Weathering. Students received The Farmer Martin sheet to complete for Homework, while continuing to STUDY FOR THEIR TEST!! Oct. 23 We are heading in to the Home Stretch of 1st Quarter. I encouraged students to remember goals and Finish Strong!! We will have the Unit 1 Earth Science Test on Friday. A 40 question Study Guide was handed out today to begin studying for the test. These are questions that have already been answered on previous quizzes. PLEASE REVIEW THESE QUESTIONS WITH YOUR STUDENT. IF THE STUDENTS KNOW THE STUDY GUIDE, THEY WILL DO WELL ON THE TEST!! We will also have a notebook check to see how they have been keeping their Science Interactive Notebooks. This should be an easy A IF students have been keeping themselves organized and putting items into their notebooks. Oct. 16 We had our quiz on Earthquakes and volcanoes today. We are starting our last piece of our Earth Science Unit with a study of Rocks. If Students did not complete the article on The Ring of Fire, that is homework. Oct. 12 Today we went to the Library and learned about Digital citizenship. Our students are very tech savvy We need to complete the Study Guide for Quiz and Chapter 4 and 5 Earth Quakes and Volcanoes Notes. I HAVE POSTPONED THE QUIZ UNTIL MONDAY. WE WILL REVIEW TOMORROW AND VIEW THE NEWS CASTS. Students Volunteered to send in popcorn and water and paper towels for our News Casts Viewing Party. Thank you to them!! Oct. 10 Today we reviewed Earthquakes and volcanoes. I gave out the Study Guide for the quiz for students to be completing and making sure that they understand and know the material for the quiz. Oct. 9 We are finishing up filming our News casts. Please have your student ready for filming as soon as we come to class tomorrow. On Friday we will have a quiz on Earthquakes and volcanoes. Oct. 5 News Casts are coming!! We have begun researching volcanoes or earth quakes to present News Casts as a group project. Students are working to create a news broadcast of their particular event. We are working to record on Monday. Sept. 28 We have been working to organize our Interactive Science Notebooks. Please ask to see your students! We are half way through our Earth Science Unit. Monday we will be going reviewing the Earth's Layers Vocabulary Sheet. PLEASE TURN IN SIGNED PROGRESS REPORTS. Sept. 26 We finished using the Computer simulations today. If students did not finish answering the Tectonic Plates Simulation work sheet, they can use their books (which should be at home) on page B82-90 to answer the questions. This will be collected for a grade tomorrow. Sept. 25 Plate Tectonics is the name of the Game! Today we used the Laptop Computers to work through simulations to see the movements of the Earth's plates. We will continue working with Discovery Education's website to understand Convergent and Divergent Boundaries tomorrow. There is no homework.
Sept. 20 Today we put together Pangaea Puzzle pieces to create a hypothetical super continent. There is no homework. Enjoy tomorrow off! Sept. 19 Convection Currents was the topic of conversation in Science today!! We performed a lab showing Convection currents. Students should complete Lab if they did not finish in class. Sept. 18 We completed our Density Lab Work sheet today and turned them in. Grades are posted on Power school. We talked about the importance of getting in missing assignments. Ask your student if they have any missing assignments that need to be turned in for a late grade. Students had Notes Guide 3-2 to complete for Homework. They received a Science Test book last week that is to be brought home and kept until the end of the year. Their Science book is at home to use for Homework for tonight and in the future! Sept. 15 Today we began our first Lab! We completed the Lab work on Density. Students had fun measuring, and weighing different colored liquids and seeing what happened when we mixed them. Students had ah haah moments when they saw how this lab relates to the different layers of the earth we have been studying. Sept. 14 Today we worked to complete our 3D view of the Earth's Layers, a notes sheet on the Outermost and innermost cores, and Reading Guide 3-1 using pages 69-71 in their books. If your student did not finish these activities, please finish for homework. TOMORROW IS OUR FIRST LAB! Sept. 13 Today we worked to create a 3 D view of the Earth's Layers. If students did not complete coloring and labeling that is HOMEWORK. Sept. 12 Today we reviewed the Layers of the Earth Vocabulary and turned in our definitions with our drawings. Sept. 11 Today We began our Unit on Earth Science. We are defining words and drawing illustrations to help us remember the definitions.
